PHOTOGRAPHS: When the patient arrives the clinic for surgery all the doubts of the patient are cleared by the surgeon and photographs of the head are taken from all the pre defined angles, for post surgery and analyzing the results .These pictures are clicked by the team with a special camera and the collection is given to the patients with all the steps of treatment.

MARKING OF THE DONOR AND RECIPIENT AREAS: The surgeon marks the area to transplant and the donor area .The recipient area is where there is general hair growth and the donor area is partially or fully shaved.

EXTRACTION FROM THE DONOR  AREA : The donor area is mostly the area where local anesthesia is applied from where the hairs are transplanted to the bald area .The hairs from the  donor area  do not have the propensity to fall as they do not acquire the genetic code for baldness. Extraction is done by an instrument called “PUNCHES”. The hair follicle extracted in one day is around 2000 to 6000 hairs. It also varies from patient to patient.

PREPARATION OF FOLLICULAR UNITS: Apparently after extraction the hair follicles are stored in a specified solution for checking  that they are strong and active.  The proper preparation and preservation of the follicular units are extremely important for the success of hair transplant.
STORAGE OF FOLLICULAR UNITS: The most important is how to preserve the follicular units while they are out of the body. These units are hydrated in an ideal room temperature up to the procedure of implantation is complete.

BREAK: The time taken to complete hair transplantation might take around 6 to 8 hrs depending upon the number of grafts. As the patient is administered local anesthesia a break is given between   extraction stage  and  beginning of implantation. Light meal is given to the patient in the break averaging up to  30 minutes.

IMPLANTATION: During the phase  anesthesia is locally applied  to the recipient area .Incisions is exactly same as the length of the follicular unit this is to avoid lesion  of the blood vessel s .These incisions ensure the angle and direction of hair growth which are same as the natural hairs. The surgeon carefully implants the follicles using puncher looking into the depth of hair extracted, the direction and inclination. The procedure may take around 6 to 8 hrs or more than one sitting depending upon the number of grafts.

POST PROCEDURE: The transplanted hair falls in and around 3 to 4 weeks of the surgery as the roots are implanted inside the scalp and new hairs start emerging. The patient can see natural hair growth from the 3rd or 4th month. As these hairs are not prone to genetic code of baldness they do not have the tendency to fall. Once the shedding stops new hairs start to regrow which are permanent.
